So we have a purple truck in Moose Jaw and one in Assiniboia and you two don't know each other although the first post was in 2010 and the last today.

Is your Purple on a 396?

I'm from Saskatchewan (aren't we all?) and every big block truck I ever saw was purple, and every purple truck I ever saw was a big block. And I never saw a big block that wasn't purple.

I heard a story that there was a fleet order of purple trucks in the Regina region, but that's just a rumor.

Re: Special Paint

Sorry for the late reply but, no more is a inline 6. I've heard of many guys having the big block though. Unfortunately, mine has a terrible repaint on the exterior I'll try to attach an interior pic to show the color.

Re: Special Paint

Were all the Canada-only colors only found in Western Canada? It seems all I know of are western region. There was the pink and the light lime green, too, maybe others?

Re: Special Paint

Here is a list of some of the special paint Canadian colors. In regards to Special k's question about all the special paint colors being in Western Canada I may have somewhat of an answer to that question. I worked at Chrysler dealers for 25 years and talking trucks with the Chrysler reps years ago I found out that 90% of the Dodge trucks ( and I'm sure this would have applied to the Chevys and GMC'c as well ) that were sold East of Manitoba like in Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes were plain jane 6 3OTT or small V8 trucks with just bare bones options. Once you got out West the reverse was true. Again just a personal observation when I was growing up in Montreal in the 60's and early 70's all the pickups around were plain jane and to see an automatic truck was a rarity. When I moved West in 1974 then I started to see the somewhat decked out trucks. I have yet to see a sold new in Canada 67/72 C10-20-30 truck with factory A/C..

Thanks a lot already gone! I appreciate that. I'll have to see if any body shops can see if that metallic mauve is the correct color of mine!

All Purple trucks come from Saskatchewan and tend to have big blocks.* Or so it seems.

I have a private theory that there was a Sask fleet order of purple trucks, perhaps one that got bailed on.* I've seen a number of them, know of a couple of totalled ones in Regina too.

Someone suggested RCMP but I don't know why RCMP would be Purple!

Reply

That would make a lot of sense! I personally had not seen one but have many people tell me about the big blocks too. I wish. Unfortunately, mine has the straight six. I will restore and paint it back to purple. I wish there was some more information on them it would be great to know if you are correct with the fleet order. Sounds logical.yea I don't know why the rc's would want purple?

Re: Special Paint

Here is a Mauve/white truck that is parked near where I live. I saw this truck on the street 7/8 years ago and popped the hood and the engine label on the inner fender said it was a 402. When i saw it next it was where it is in the attached pic and I stopped and talked with the owner who said the truck had been in his family since new and he was going to restore it and that was maybe 4/5 years ago and it is still sitting. The owner was in his mid 30's with fifth wheel camper trailer in the driveway and a couple of kids maybe 5/6 years old so I'm thinking it may be a while before that truck gets restored.

Re: Special Paint

I used a Plum colored 69 to build my first truck in 1983. It was a 2WD 1969 C10 with a 350, AT. When I was done, it was on a 60 4WD K10 frame, and had a 350, MT, LS front and rear and it was painted black.
