Wanted to say hello and Introduce myself: 1969 C10 Stepside (shortbed)

greetings everyone!
Been wanting to take on a new project and found this site. I'm a member of a motorcycle forum (cx500) that was instrumental in helping me rebuild my '79 bike and making that into my daily driver. This site looks like it has the same type of helpful and friendly folks. That said, I want to thank everyone in advance to the answers to who-knows-how-many dumb (or brilliant) questions I'll ask.

Now to the meat of it.
My dad has a 1969 C10 stepside shortbed. It's been on blocks for about 15 years in the back yard. Probably should be a donor truck (has rusted floorpan in cab and some other dings...plus motor is toast). However, it has sentimental value and I'd love to restore it.

plan on dropping a new engine in (V8), and would like to change the 3-on-the-tree to an automatic transmission.

Would LOVE to make it 4wd, but unless I find a k10 chassis/drivetrain that is cheap and conveniently located I'll probably it 2WD.

Anyway, I'm sure I'll be asking many questions in the future.
Thanks!

Welcome! if ya had a welder, then that rust can be fixed, and a 4wd conversion done, and dont just look for a 67-72 k10 chassis, a squarebody truck 4x4 chassis can be made to fit.

Thanks Deer Hunter!
I've only got an arch welder now...but building out a shop that will hopefully soon include a MIG welder. I'll have to explore more on how to convert to 4x4.
