Thumbs up McPherson College Car Show!!

Hey Everyone,

I wanted to let everyone know that we are putting on are 5th car show, and I would like to see as many of you there as possible. I am currently a student here and helped with the show last year and again this year. It's a really nice and relaxing show. It is on the campus of McPherson College in McPherson, KS on May 1. Registration starts at 8:00 and ends at 12:00. We are having a cruise night on friday April 30th. There are a couple of hotels in town, so if you plan on coming for that you may want to get your reservation asap. There are registration form on are website, www.mcpherson.edu, go the automotive restoration page and then click on car show and it will bring up the registration form. You can either pre-register or just come the day of. There aren't many truck that show up, so I would like to see as many of you come as possible. If you live in Kansas you might as well just plan on coming. Let me know if you have any questions.

See you May 1st,

Aaron Stanford

Thanks,

whats up stanford, like he says its a great school, i personally graduated from mcpherson with a degree in auto restoration in 2003. For anyone that loves cars or trucks its a great show and it helps the restoration department out tremendously. ill be there with my camaro club this year, wish it was the truck but ran out of cash for the little details. hope to see all of you there!!

Stanford,
Do you have another link for the website for your school? The above one didn't work. I am sort of interested in going to McPherson College after I graduate from Wyotech.

Im kind of courious to hear your honest opion of wyotech, pros and cons. If you ever come out and look at the school let me know and I'll try to show you around a little bit.

Stanford,
I haven't started at Wyotech yet, still going through the intial things, but hopefully will be able to start there in october. Have you heard some bad things about Wyotech? It was my first choice becuase they built a satellite campus near my house in California, but would give it second though if it is not the best or close to the best automotive trade school. I wish I lived closer and I would come down this weekend for the show and check out the campus, do you like it? What kind of courses do you take?

Jeremy

Jeremy,

I like it a lot. You take a class for every part of the vehicle. Engine rebuilding, Drivetrain rebuilding, Chassis, Welding and Panel Fab., Paint, Apulstry and Trim, and final assembly. Along with woodworking and there is a cad course as well. They offer a two and four year degree program. The two year fills up really fast, and I think is full for the next two years, but I don't know for sure. The four is designed to give you two degrees. One in automotive technology, and one in either business, communications (writing), art, and I think engineering. I am currently in the Automotive Management degree program, which is the business one. It is the only program in the nation that offers such degrees. It is by no means a trade school, it is an acredited school. What they teach here is just the basics, not hot rods or customs, but what you learn here you can deffintly take with you and apply in a custom or hot rod enviroment. They also will help with internships and job placement. I personally don't know much about wyotech. There were two kids that graduated a couple years ahead of me in high school that attend, one is now working on a farm and the other no one has heard from. There are also a couple of students here that went to wyotech for a year or two and they say that its not what they thought it was suppose to be. I am not trying to make a decision for you, nor say one is better than the other, they both have there strengths and weaknesses. Go to the website, www.mcpherson.edu there some info there along with an 800 number if you want to talk to an acual person of the college. I'll graduate from the program next year, and I know that I made the right decision by going here. I know its last minute, but if you get a chance to come out this weekend let me know. If you have any other questions let me know, I'd be more than happy to help out.

Thanks,

Aaron Stanford

Aaron,
Thanks for all the info! When I meet with a person from Wyotech I will now make sure it is what I want. I can't believe McPherson's is filled up for two years, that is crazy. How much does it cost?

mcpherson runs about 21,000$ per year. they are pretty generous with scholarships if you try hard enough and apply for all of them. it seems expensive but i believe its pretty comparable to wyotech, and you get alot more. if you are wanting into the four year program at mcpherson you can always go there for two years and get the business or art or whatever you chooose out of the way and then get in the auto restoration program when its open. good luck!
