Where do I get one? Putting together a np205 into a 72 k20. I tried a bronco np205 shifter and its not even close.

You could post a WTB ad in the For Sale fourm, but you need to be a paying member to do that. Probably be your best bet

Re: Transfer Case Shifter
Thanks, I guess that's the next step. I checked ebay and Craigslist with no luck. I was just curious if there were any other options.

Re: Transfer Case Shifter
The Bronco came with a Dana 20 is probably why it's not even close... GM used the 205 through the end of the K30 in '91 but the shifter is a different shape than the earlier trucks. As noted above, the classifieds here is a good start.

Re: Transfer Case Shifter
Well supposedly this shifter came off a np205. And it mounts up fine. It's just the lever arm is too big, hits everything, and can't shift. I was just looking for something to mock up and was hoping for a generic shifter versus a year specific one.
Will any 67-72 chevy np205 work and fit? |

Re: Transfer Case Shifter
PM me an email address and I can send a pic of 4 205 shifters of various years side by side, from an early forged one to a later chrome one, and 2 in between. Pics are far too big to post. Lengths are ~16-17 inches. Or you can search for pics of a shifter--no doubt there are many here and on the internet.
There should be a mount point (threaded hole) on the right side of TC adapter where the shifter mounts. All of mine have the same general shape, with the upper arm jogging one way and the lower arm the other (right/left). |

Re: Transfer Case Shifter
Awesome! Ill shoot you a PM.
We eneded up finding a shifter in the pile of junk we got. It works, the only issue is that the threads have snapped off. Any tips and tricks for finding/making a bolt for the lever that goes into the transfer case? |

Re: Transfer Case Shifter
The original pivot bolts are hard to come by. I haven't been able to find one anyway. You have to get a bolt that fits the TC hole and is the correct width. And then scrounge a sleeve or bushing to fill the gap between bolt and shift lever, and a couple of washers on each end. It's what I did; and I also put some rubber washers between the hard washers and the shift lever.. just because I have enough rattling and harmonics! Also, it appeared my original shift lever had plastic sleeves.

Re: Transfer Case Shifter
Tell us what year your truck is. You can find a correct shifter in the parts board, so why not keep it simple and do that? Blazers were the first t run the NP205 in '69, then it became widely used in most 70-72s, with just a few Dana20sin 3spd K/5s. In '73 they became a little less used due to the full-time 4wd using the NP203
