Re: 66 C10- SWB V8 Auto AC- "Cropwell"

Not much here but a visit from Santa.

I introduce to you the Brockman Mellowtone twins!

Guts

The truck will be leaving my house this Tuesday, on a flatbed. It will be headed to the shop to finish up the brakes and get the exhaust put on.

After that, its game on! K5, if your wife is yelling at you, "there is an old truck in the street,, on fire!" It's just me christening the neighborhood.

Single Tire Fire

Re: 66 C10- SWB V8 Auto AC- "Cropwell"

So the day has finally come!

The repair shop called and told me it was ready. I had a heck of a time getting the brakes to work, it turns out the pushrod was too short.

The shop did a great job on the exhaust. True duals from the ram horns back. All 2" with a nice tuck-n-dump right at the rear bumper. And the Brockman Mellowtone glasspacks,,, hell yeah! Take a listen

http://youtu.be/MPIpZqq9b1Y

The only bad news is, no vid of a smoke one tire fire.

Re: 66 C10- SWB V8 Auto AC- "Cropwell"

So me and "Cropwell" headed out west of town about 30 miles for a cruise-in. It did great, if you are like me, taking an old piece of Detroit Iron out a good distance from the house for the first time is a bit of a "puckered" ride! All senses on deck for the way out, then on the way home I am hammering it down and burnouts at each stop. Gotta break that horse in right!

I can honestly say that this project is winding down. I have gone back over the list of improvements and it is LONG!

I wanted to get the bed finished up before I list it for sale.

Here is what I did: I used a one-by PT frame for the bed to rest on. Then, painted 1x6 planks with a exterior grade black paint, and then fastened them to the PT lumber underneath with stainless fasteners. Looks sharp for very little money.

The MC is from a 70 or 72 Chevy Impala, it MUST be setup for drum/drum.

I did send it on down the road, it was an awesome truck and the new owner is driving the piss out of it! Win-Win

Right place, right time and combing craigslist consistently. On the past two, if its a good deal you have to jump on it quick and that usually means trailering it home.

Just finished reading the whole thread. Love the patina..it turned out nice! Some simple improvements and detailing. What a difference it makes. Someone ended up with a real nice classic ride. My hope,... we see more of "Cropwell" from the current owner. Any chance of that do you think?

Thanks man.

Yes, the new owner is a member of the board. If there ever was a class, C10- 101: The complete guide to C10 badassnesses, he would be the professor.

Re: 66 C10- SWB V8 Auto AC- "Cropwell"

Well guys, here is Cropwell in AZ now forever! I just recently purchased her and followed her for about 2 years before I was able to get it. Working on more improvements here and there but she will be staying original with all the patina! Here are some current pictures she has already been in her first show last week and new name is Shorty Deluxe!! Planning on a Factory OEM instrument cluster change as well with the original tach as well and the seat being redone factory original with the OEM material! Will be getting the AC up an functioning as well too. Also just recently found a OEM mirror same correct color and patina as the truck. Small improvements will be done in the near future but she is going to retire with my wife and I here in AZ, and plan to get a small Airstream Bambi to go with shorty deluxe as well down the road. She is in the desert to stay! Here are some updated pictures. No more Alabama fields for this old 66! She spends allot of time in a garage now! But try to drive it as often as I can! And thanks again Shad for helping me out! She is fun as heck to drive!
