1941-46 Radiator

I am looking for a new aluminum radiator for my project. I have a very bad original and it looks like the filler is on the passenger side and on top. All the aftermarket units all have the filler pushed toward the engine. Doesn't that hit the radiator support rods?
Has anyone found a radiator that fits correctly?
I am running a sbc and 700r4
Thanks for any help

Re: 1941-46 Radiator

All I can tell you from my experience is the Champion Radiators that they claim fits the 46's.......DO NOT! The cap hits the cross braceing comming off the firewall. Its an easy enough fix. The other thing you might have to do is have the filler neck turned 180 degrees as the coolant overflow nipple points towards the drivers side of the truck. You can have Champion change the oreintation of the nipple but I think it cost me about 75 bucks, and they did crapy job of it. Not sure if you have checked out my build but I chronicle all this over on the pre 46 projects side of this site.

Re: 1941-46 Radiator

Thanks Paintman. I was looking at your project and your fix looks very clean to me.
I will order a radiator and now know what I am in for.

Hey Doc! Just as a side note. If you do go with the Champion radiator, the good news is, it will bolt directly into the stock radiator core support. It's just all the other B.S. you will have to deal with

Re: 1941-46 Radiator

Take a look at PRC radiators, I will say that they keep the engine on the thermostat here in the desert and it has been a "bit warm".
It stays within 10* with the A/C on in traffic
I wish the Vintage Air worked as good as the rad and fan!
I am sure others will work but we only tried this one and it works...................get out your wallet!!

Re: 1941-46 Radiator

We also make radiators here in the USA using domestically sourced materials by hand. They are all tig welded, no epoxy or glue either. Plus, we are a site sponsor. We don't currently make them for the 41-46 models, but we do for the 47-87 models. We'd be interested in building a prototype and would cut a deal in exchange for sending us your rad, and then test fitting the prototype. Let me know if you are interested.

We have a "good" stock radiator that is part of the core support for the 33 2 door Plymouth sedan we are building but will need a rad for a 383 Mopar
What does something like this run?

Re: 1933 Plymouth Radiator

email pictures and details about the set-up (dimensions as well) to sales@rndfabrication.com and I can quote you. Typically, custom one-off radiators are in the $475-550 range, but it really depends on complexity / size / etc.
