Re: 1950 steering box

A lot of them leaked so bad they filled them up with grease. It should have heavy weight gear oil in it

Anoka... Its nice to see another local on the board. I also have a 1950 and used to drive it to the weekly Anoka show until I blew the motor. Welcome to the forum.

Re: 1950 steering box

John Deere Corn head grease is a good option for the steering box. Lot's of truck running around with it in there.

If you don't live in farm country. CV joint grease is another option.

The shocks that came with the TCI kit seemed just fine when I put them in. I haven't driven it yet since the truck is still in pieces. I might upgrade to air shocks though so I can level the truck if I load up the bed. As for the gas tank, I just ordered mine from Brother's truck parts and it fit with a little room to spare. I don't remember what the volume is. http://www.brotherstrucks.com/prodin...number=SGT4753

Feel free to stop by some time and take a look at my set up. I have the truck at my father's house right now while I build the engine but it should be home again next month.
