Re: Installing LED tail lights from LMC

Ace: Beautiful job and a nice ride to be sure. I only have one issue. You used regular crimp connectors for the wireing. I live in upstate NY and during the winter they LOVE to salt the crap out of everything and the regular crimp connectors just don't cut it. Use the shrink wrap connectors next time. They work just like the regular ones only when your done you heat them with a lighter or heat gun and they seal up tight. You can get them almost anyplace. I get mine from Wal Mart. Again, nice ride & good job. Jim

Re: Installing LED tail lights from LMC

Nice to see how to put mine in, I just ordered those exact ones from LMC a couple days ago, didn't get new lenses though, gonna see if my orignals will work, might take a little rubbing compound to them otherwise (great trick for the yellow haze on 5.0 mustang headlights.)

Re: Installing LED tail lights from LMC

I used heat shrink around the crimps so they are water tight. Nothing is getting in there to bother the connection.

Rubbing compound is a good place to start when refinishing a set of plastic lenses. Try and find some Meguire's plastic wax. It comes in a white bottle and works wonders for oxidation. I've used it on both my truck and the MR2 and it makes all the difference in the world.

Thanks for the tip, heres one for ya, instead of heat shrink, I know napa has them, heat shrink crimp on connectors. Just like a regular connector but made with different plastic material on the ends that acts just like heat shrink. Pretty slick we have them at work, thats where i get mine. They are like a buck a piece but they work a lot better than heat shrink in my opinion. We use them on a couple hundred of pieces of equipment.

Never heard of them. I'll have to ask my buddy about those. Maybe pick up a few...

Nice write up. I think the guy that posted about the roll on paint work, meant... He wanted to know if you were doing the painting, or playing the roll of painter.

Anyhow, real nice truck for sure.

Re: Installing LED tail lights from LMC

I hate bring up and old thread like this but . . . since it wasn't really covered, how does the light output compare to stock . . . both as marker lights and turn/brake.

I have been looking at these for both of my Suburbans, but am weighing my options against using lights pulled from the trucking industry as well (cheaper but may not look as good)

Re: Installing LED tail lights from LMC

Ive seen his tail lights a few times while i live in Sacramento. The things look like your pressing the brake just with the driving lights on. They are very bright, look like spot light stop lights when the brake lights are on there nice cant wait to get me a set.

Re: Installing LED tail lights from LMC

Cool, that's what I was hoping to hear.
Sounds like an order to LMC is going to be in the near future.
