Asbestos in hood and head liners?

Does anyone know about asbestos in the hood and headliners of old Chevy trucks? I read somewhere that asbestos was used in the liner under the hood. Does anyone know if asbestos was a problem inside the truck in the headliner as well? Does anyone have links on the Internet to information? I have a '77 Chevy Suburban and am currently remodeling an '82 Suburban. I want to know if I need to be concerned about my health while working on it.

Thanks!

All I've seen in hoods is fiberglass mat. Early hoods weren't even insulated. As for headliners, they're cardboard, foam and cloth.
Rip away! If you're concerned, wear a mask when you're tearing stuff out.
The only health you need to worry about is with regards to your bank account, but you've probably already figured that out.

Thanks a lot! Good to know. Yeah, my bank account is already in intensive care from this remodel.

Brake dust would be more of an issue than the headliner. You could chop up the headliner and snort it and it more than likely wouldn't hurt you. Wouldn't buzz you either. In all actuality you probably have a better chance of the truck falling off a jack than getting mesothelioma working on it.

^ I agree.
I didn't have to chop up anything on mine, I found a half a bag of green stuff jammed down between the seats. Sure made the teardown go a lot better
