Any switched power wire should work fine, I'd try to locate a larger 14 Ga wire over a 16-18 Ga....

I'm yet to get my fan installed, Just have too many other things going on right now !

Here's a typical single relay diagram for non-AC;

Here's the diagram I will use for running AC;

Also, I'll be using a circuit breaker instead of a fuse. I'd rather custom taylor my own fan harness to the way I want, Rather than try fitting/butchering
some high dollar pre-made kit.....

Re: Electric Cooling Fan How-to

Having trouble finding where exactly to connect it. I can't seem to locate a switch-able hot 12v power wire. Could you tell me exactly where the best spot would be? I have bee looking over wiring diagrams and the truck itself all afternoon and I am sure its right in front of me but I can't see it. Thanks!

Re: Electric Cooling Fan How-to

You've got a under-hood fuse/relay panel on the left fender well right ?

There's at-least two relays in that panel (fuel pump/AC) that are activated with switched power, Remove the panel from the fender then flip it up side down. You will find those and likely a few more, Just tap into one with a three way connector. The fan relay doesn't pull that much working amperage.....

Re: Electric Cooling Fan How-to

Hey, just wanted to thank you for the advice. It worked well and I avoided drilling through the firewall just to get to a switch-able circuit. I used the pink/black wire off the fuel pump fuse and so far so good.

Re: Electric Cooling Fan How-to

My fan pushes forward into grill and my ac condenser....

Did I miss something to make the fan pull into the engine bay?

What's honestly better?

Re: Electric Cooling Fan How-to

You've got your fan leads reversed. You should always have the fan mounted on the inside and have it pull air towards to motor. Putting the fans on the outside creates too much restriction @ idle/low speed.
