Evaporator insulation

What is used for the Evaporator Expansion valve sensor insulation?
Looks like a hardened mass of foam?
Will any tightly compacted foam tube insulation work?

Re: Evaporator insulation

I don't know what it is called...It can be bought at a parts store. A legit parts store will know what you need. A chain store that has last weeks slurpee makers behind a computer, may not...

Insulating putty...maybe

Re: Evaporator insulation

It’s kind of like a tar product. It comes in a roll. You can get it from any after market A/C company. It’s pliable and give a nice tight seal around the capillary tube. Don’t think the foam would work as good due to the constant heat cool cycles that the suction side goes through.
