Weird VIN problem

Hey. Ok. I have a dumptruck i traded for a couple years ago. I finally want to get the title done. It happens to be an out of state truck. So i have to get a VIN inspection.
Here is where the problem is. I thought the title was messed up. Low and behold the truck vin plate has an extra number in it.
The 3rd number which is the truck GVW is doubled. Instead of one 3 there are 2. Example: CS338S instead of CS38S.
I ain't never seen one on these trucks. At my job i used to install the vin plate on new Honda's. And we had to check each one. Sometimes you would find a screwed up plate. Toss it out, make a new one.
Now i gotta make the DMV here understand the factory screwed up. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Sucks to be me today.

Damn, that's worse than the deal where the VIN on the frame is one unit off from the VIN on the titel.
Good luck man. Whish i knew how to fix that.
On a side note, i have been really thinking about the 4.11 rear you have over there. (really REALLY thinking about it) I think i need to run back out there some time soon.
You want my old 3.07 one?

I had about the same problem when I got back to Ohio after buying and getting a title for my 70 GMC in Texas. Two letters or numbers were different on the title from the VIN plate. I had to take an etching along with a statement from the inspection station down to DMV. After a lot of hassle, they finally gave me an Ohio title for it. Just my $.02.

Someone was selling blank VIN plates on the parts board a week ago...get one, stamp it to match the Title, and rivet it on!

There's nothing wrong with the vin from what I see...

C= Conventional Cab
S= Six cylinder
3 = 1 ton
3 = cab and chassis model
8 = 1968
S = St. Louis Manufacture Plant

This one was orded as a cab and chassis and someone put a dump box on it.... really nothing unusual there. Your good to go.
