Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I got a good start on removing stuff from my cab. Getting ready to lift it off the frame. I still have to remove the windshield, rear glass, and steering column still.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Back around 1970 I picked up an original Yankee peep mirror in a wrecking yard. I subsequently used this exact mirror on my 1949 Plymouth, 1954 Chevy, 1946 Ford, and even on our 1960 GMC when first acquired. I always loved the looks of the mirror and the vision provided with the mirror so close to my head. Eventually it was replaced with stock door mirrors since the factory nutserts were already in the driver’s door.

Having used it for years, nostalgia got the better of me and I temporarily mounted it to see if I could go back, the intention being to get rid of both door mirrors if it worked well. So far I’m not impressed with the vision. I only drove it at night, but I couldn’t see anything but reflections in the window glass. I’ll try again tomorrow and see if getting use to it again makes any improvement.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I got my door glass all in on both doors, just in time because my seat just came back from the upholstery shop

Finished off putting in my air ride system, took me 3 days not too bad considering I,ve never put them on before. Doesn't drop it all that much but does it ride a whole lot better

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I finished stripping everything off of my cab. Got all the glass out without damage. Ready to deCABitate it from the frame as soon as I can round up son and his friends. Ah, nothing like young muscle to help the old man out. I'm sure it will cost me some beers but it's beer well drank.

A buddy asked me to help him work on his truck one time. He said "I need a man with a strong back and a weak mind". I said "I'm your guy!!" Haha.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Spent a better part of the day lining up the front sheetmetal, trying to get all gaps close as possible and body lines somewhat strait, end result, doors and hood shut better and body looks straiter without ever touching bondo or sandpaper!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Finished the teardown of the 250 and got it ready for the machine shop. But mostly I got an old boat trailer out of the woods to use as a Carrier for the cab and bed when I take them off for restoration.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Great score on the C 30 Sway Bar and it even came with Poly bushings - that's pretty hard to beat.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Over the past month I had to rebuild the top end of the "professionally" build SB 357 motor I installed in August of 2010. Had nothing but problems with this from the first week out. Did not want them touching it again so. I did all the work myself - for the first time.... Just found out that the shop that built my motor is out of business.....

Had to swap heads: now running GM 185 head w/t 2.02/1.60 valves, Edelbrock RPM 7102 cam and lifters: .488/.510 lift. Running Performer intake and carb for now. Motor still looks the same as last year but runs so much better! Also running 17" Brockman steel packed mufflers. Sounds damn good. Here's a lil vid of the exhaust note before the top end rebuild:

Now maybe I can get on the front suspension. Rear was bagged this past June

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Didn't turn any wrenches but I did order the No Limit shock relocation kit and shocks. Time to get ready to work as soon as the new stuff arrives. I want the panhard bar from No Limit next.
