Re: 65 chevy restoration

Also I ordered some parts to get started yesterday. I ordered the front floor braces and one rocker on the passenger side, and new cab mounting hardware and both lower fender patches.

Re: 65 chevy restoration

I have the floor rust cut out on the drivers side and the front floor brace out as well. I will get some pictures in a day or two. I have not had a lot of time to work on the truck because I have been stripping down a donor truck for parts. This week I am planning on getting some stuff done.

Here is the inside. The metal I used was from a 66 I junked. It was rusted out bad but I did find enough solid metal to patch the floors

Re: 65 chevy restoration

I have the cab bolted back to the frame with all new bushings and bolts. The frame is also painted from the back to just in front of the cab.

Re: 65 chevy restoration

I have decided to keep the disk brakes on the front and the five lug. I have installed the correct rearend and coil springs but now I have 6 lug in the back and 5 in the front. The axles I need are 260 dollars before shipping soooo I have found a 72 5 lug rearend I am going to install. What do you guys think? Oh the rearend is only 150.

Re: 65 chevy restoration

I would choose the 72 5 lug, one spare is easier than two...

Re: 65 chevy restoration

I bought a 83 chevy truck today with a strong 350 with a lot of goodies on it. It will be cleaned and painted and put in my 65. I will post pictures in a few days.

Re: 65 chevy restoration

I'm in for this one. I so admire you guys that are willing to dive in and replace panels. I just don't have the skill set for that. Great job so far!
