What is the best lift kit for 1973-87 chevy suburban?

Hey guys I guess the search feature is broken because I can not get it to work.

I was wondering what suspension lift had the best ride quality?

I thinking of just buying a stock suburban and putting a lift on it myself.

What kit should I buy? I want the best ride quailty I can get at a reasonable price. I also want it to be safe and reliable.

I think a 6" lift would be good enough because it will be on the highway quite a bit.

If you could help me out I would appreciate it. Thanks guys!

(no body lifts please. all suspensions. Thanks)

I have also seen a few guys with ladder bars. Where in the world do you find them for a 4x4 suburban?

you didn't specify block or spring lift so ill start with block my answers would be quality - fabtech if they make them for straight axles, price rough/tuff country because they ride like crap probably why they're so cheap, skyjacker would be my next choice and that's all i would pick. For a spring only lift i can only suggest competition leaf springs but they're website seems to be down but my cousin bought 12in lift springs from them and is on my old burban

Rough country and tuff country are two WAY different animals. Infact rough country are regarded as the harshest riding springs while tuff country are considered the softest with their easy-rides, next to deaver or alcans. Which are a total joke because they lose their capacity in a few years.

I want a spring lift suspension. NO blocks! Sorry I guess I left that out.

I want safe, strong, reliable, durable, quality springs!

I dont mind paying a little more if they are that much better. I am going to end up doing a build from the ground up so I will need everything!

IMO Tuff Country EZ-rides are the best quality off the shelf and have a great price. I run a 4" lift on my '91 Suburban and love the ride. I set the Rancho 9000RSXs on firm to tow and leave them soft the rest of the time.

Re: What is the best lift kit for 1973-87 chevy suburban?

BDS is supposed to be almost as soft as Tuff Country, but I'm not so sure about that. I have 4 inch BDS on my Burb and I would not call them soft, but they are maybe a touch softer than the stock springs. Superlift is supposed to be on the harsh side, but I run those on my dually and it rides like a Cadillac. It does have the extra weight of a big block though... and a long wheelbase... and also tall, soft bias ply tires. So I guess it would ride different if it were a Burb.

Also, about Rough Country. Some have reported that the newer springs are softer than the old ones.
