I need another truck like I need a hole in the head, but I got one anyway.

The truck not the hole.

It does have a chrome oil pan....and new goodyear wranglers.

Missing trim piece on right front fender.

Double-DIN dash cut for the finishing move!

That's not the right steering wheel for that year, is it? I only know my GMC wheels but it looks significantly different, like a square-body wheel or something. Not complaining, just trying to learn something every day!

I don't know anything about the "Double-DIN" / radio.

The steering wheel is not a 69. Probably a from a square body like you said.

Just got the truck 9/02/14. So far I've washed it, and removed the mirrors that were way low on the door, and removed a Honda sticker on the back window.

Thinking it will make a good tow vehicle (except for gas milage).

Installed a temporary driver side mirror from my 72 C10.

This is the trim piece that's missing.

The truck has power brakes, but no power steering.

Plan to add a fuel tank between the frame rails, and remove the suicide bomber tank from the cab.

Will 79 3/4 ton front spindles (disc brakes) interchange with a 69 3/4 ton?

No I don't smoke. I hate having a fuel tank in the cab.

I hate it in my 71. I hate it in my 72. I hate it in my 69.

I'm a hater! I'm hating on fuel tanks in the cab.

The 58 will not have a fuel tank in the cab.

One by one the fuel tanks will be removed from the cab.

My Dad had a leak in his filler neck so that every now and then fuel would splash out onto his shoulder. He smoked a pipe. So he just didn't fill it as much.

I'm more cautious, but I figured if I'm hit hard enough to deform the tank inside the cab, I probably have bigger problems.

Hmm interesting. Besides when I pull the seat forward, I'd never know there's a fuel tank in the cab of my '67. I love it there. If someone t bones me and I blow up at least I went out driving my '67 C10!!!

It's (supposedly) a free country and we can mount our fuel tank wherever we like.

Under the hood I've been tightening loose bolts.

The PO said he had a local shop replace the camshaft.

The engine run strong and sounds good (dual exhaust).

There were some oil leaks: valve covers (bolts way loose) intake manifold center bolts on both sides (no pipe dope on threads).

It has a Holley carb with manual choke but no choke cable.

Got one from summit.

Today I plan to install the new exhaust donuts and install the choke cable.

I have to get back to the 58. still have a lot welding to do on the chassis.

Yeah, I'd be more careful,too! I'd at least wait till 3/4 tank,then go ahead and fill the pipe all the way. Oh...You meant didn't fill the truck as much

Installed choke cable after making an under dash bracket.

Replaced exhaust donuts on both sides.

Tightened bolts on oil pan.

Drove it to the post office for a test drive.

Checked the mail and found the title for the 69 from DMV.

It's been a year since the last post on the 69.

Replaced the missing trim piece, installed choke cable.

Also replaced exhaust manifold gaskets, and valve cover gaskets.

Made a rack so I could haul trash and whatever else gets thrown in the bed.

Still painting three boards for the rack tail gate.

Finished the tailgate today.

Replaced the passenger car tires with some light truck tires.

Who puts passenger car tires on a 3/4 ton truck?

Holley carb was leaking fuel if I didn't drive it enough.

It would stop leaking after a while.

I finally had enough and replaced it.

Other than change the oil and filter thats about all it will get for awhile.

I agree on the rack. Very nicely done ... How does the gate part of the rack open?

Thanks for the kind words.

The rack has two pieces of square tube welded on each side.

The gate has two pieces of slightly smaller square tube welded on each side.

It took some fine tuning to get to work right.

The gate is way to heavy. I need to make a lighter one.
