MERRY CHRISTMAS, and GREAT NEW YEAR

I haven't posted in a while, since not much has been going on in the shop. The V12 powered '46 Chev pu is waiting patiently snuggled down in the shop. She gets started and driven a mile or so now and then to stay lubed, and limber. 77 years is showing the wear and tear on us, so wife and I moved to town, but kept the farm. Sure miss the tinkering on our old "treasures", tho.

Just wanted to wish the staff and members all a great CHRISTMAS season and much enjoyment tinkering on our old V6/V12s in the New Year. Lets try to keep them breathing "fire and thunder" for many years to come.

The Wife and I did the same as you by moving to town and leaving the home in the country behind.. We are getting used it now after 5 years, the main thing is we left all the maintennce work on the place in the country to some one younger,, hope this is what you have done..

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you Cayoterun, and everyone else too!

Cayoterun, I'm sure that was hard leaving a place you've lived and done so much in your life with. At least you still have it. I know several older couples that had to sell their farms to pay for health care and are miserable. It's really sad.

You bet, Dieselwrencher, and the others who are making and have made the transition to the " twiddle your thumbs and feeling useless" class. Yes, it's being tough to "turn our backs and walk away", but I kept the use of the shop and house. We've transferred some of it to 2 of our kids and families and have rented to a young adjoining neighbor family who returned to help his parents, so felt good to have a new young family back in the neighborhood. Not many young people want to return to agriculture anymore around here. My grandparents came to this country in the late 1890s and homesteaded the original 160 acres, then acreage was added by next two generations, so we've been there ever since. I've been on it for 52 years.

Yes, that old place is our "Ace-in-the-hole", but hoping with my VA coverage, and wifes insurances, it won't be needed, but no-one can see in the crystal ball.

BUT, in spite of blizzards, droughts, qualms of mother nature, etc. It's been a great life to grow up in and raise 4 roudy, hard-working kids, So the "Good Lord" has been good to us.

Don't fret. The guy on the back dressed as Santa changed his view on Christmas. Not a bad guy under all that green skin
