Re: LS1 into a 73 cheyenne

Are you a photographer?

I've never seen such good pictures of a truck.

The lighting and forced focus on the foreground really makes the image pop!

Update: Nevermind, I just found out you are a photographer. Keep up the great work and great pics.

Great progress. Won't be long and you will have some paint on the body and all your hard work will really show.

Re: LS1 into a 73 cheyenne

I will be tubbin the bed to clear a 20x15 wheel with a Fat tire. I will use 2 more tubs cut them in half to get the extension lined them and weld the seam, or at least thats the idea. Here is a PhotoChop sample of the before and after. I want to be able to tuck all this fatness

Nice work on your truck. You do take nice pics, but are forgetting one of the basic rules of photography. Look for shadows in your frame.

Re: LS1 into a 73 cheyenne

Reason for the shadows is because the shop is low lit and i use the crappy pop up flash and it casts a shadow of the lens. I cant afford a fancy flash right now this truck is a money eatin machine

If we have to endure a few shadows to ensure progress on your project, I'll settle for that....

When I tear apart my "parts" truck I want to video and photograph several of the processes, like removing the engine/trans, removing the hood, removing the front clip (assembled), removing the bed, removing the cab, etc... to show people who have never done it before a very detailed How-To.

My plan is to use halogen construction lights (pictured below) to illuminate the area so the video and pics are better...

Do you think that will work?

Re: LS1 into a 73 cheyenne

I just take pics before I begin, or after I get thru for the day. Most of it I'll never use...but when I put together a book on my trucks buildup I'll have lots pf pics to choose from.

True 'dat.

But basically the only reason I'm tearing down the "parts" truck is to learn and hopefully help others learn. Then, after I've done some welding, body work, painting, sand blasting, disassembly, re-assembly, etc... I will tear into my nice silverado.

p.s. Those seats will look nice in your cabin. Are you going to reupholster them?

Re: LS1 into a 73 cheyenne

Nice build!!! I can't wait to get the LS1 into my K5. The Jetstream blue is an Awesome color and will look great on your Cheyenne!!! I'm kinda partial to that color since my Camaro SS is close to the same color

Re: LS1 into a 73 cheyenne

I will start on the bed tubs this weekend. The inner dimension if i recall are 14" and i will extend them out 8" to 22" . 18" for the tire plus 2" clearance on each side. So i decided to go with Mickey Thompson for the wheels HR-1 One-piece rotary-forged aluminum wheels on the front 18x6 with a 26X8 R18 tire on the rear 20x16 with a 31X18 R20 tire. I will completely redo the rear end with a 4 link triangular from ridetech with stainless arms with ridetech adjustable coilovers. For the rearend I will go witha Ford 9 inch or maybe an 8.8 95+ Ford Explorer since they they come with dics brakes it comes down to wich I can get ahold of first. Front suspension will stay as is for now eventually i will hook it up with new top and bottom tubular arms with adj. coilovers.

I will make sure to photograph all this

Any input on this will be apreciated
