Well it is not running yet, I think my module is out of the HEI, because it is a Accel dizzy I had to order the module from summit so it should be a few days before I get back at it. I can't believe summer is almost over.

Well time for an update. I am making myself a deadline. Before the weekend is over I am driving my truck around the block. I have fixed the distributor problem, after several less than helpful to tech support the proble was the coil.
This week I began to bleed the brakes and I got a defective master cylinder. I have to give acclolades for priratejack.com for their great customer service. I told them I thought I had a defective MC and and explained the problem and they had a new MC to me in two days. My plans for the weekend are, install the MC and bleed the brakes. Install the power steering pump lines. Set up the 700R4, fill the torque converter with oil. Clean the tires and wheels. Drive it around the block. I took some pictures tonight but don't have the correct cord. I will post them tomorrow. |

Well things have changed since my last post. I was laid off in December and had to move my truck into storage. With the warmer weather now here I feel the need/urge to get the truck back on the road. The job search is going well and I feel that I will have a job in a month or so, there for I feel I need to spend some time on the truck and cross the T's and dot the I's that i missed before I had to retire it in the fall.

It's back on the road. I have a transmission line leak that I need to fix and I think I need to re-bleed the brakes, and it shifts a little late going up hills (I think i need to adjust the tv cable abit.

Well took it out yesterday for a bit. It ran pretty well. Still having trouble with the shifting. From what I read it sounds like the throttle valve is stuck. I am going to give Bow Tie Overdrives a call this afternoon to confirm. But all in all it ran pretty sweetly. Here are a couple of pics so you all can see how it looks when it is on the road.

Thanks for the compliments. I took it out again today. I called Bow Tie Overdrives this past week and explained to them what was happening. The guy told me that he was 95% sure that my throttle valve was sticking. He told me to disconnect the cable and firmly pull it about 20 times once the truck has warmed up. He also said that once I completed that take it on the road and push it a little bit to again work the throttle valve. I did this and it is shifting much better. I still am getting a pretty hard shift from 1st to 2nd though, and while going up hills at low RPMs. I'll give them a call again this week.
With one problem almost solved another one rears its head. When backing up my truck into the storage unit I was having some trouble getting the front tires over the curb on the concrete slab. Some water had collected on the smooth concrete floor and my rear tire wasn't getting any traction. I rolled the truck back and forth a couple of times to try and rock it up. I decided to pull forward and put some blocking under the tires to help it roll over the concrete edge. That was when I noticed I was over heating and coolant was pouring out of the bottom of my engine compartment. I quickly turned off the truck and opened the hood. The coolant was coming out of the overflow on the radiator cap. I quickly realized that my electric fans weren't running. I am going to test the relay and make sure it was grounded tomorrow. But it was pretty weird how fast that truck heated up. It seemed as soon as I got the truck off the road it started heating up. It normally runs around 170-175 degrees and when I finally got it turned off it was 240+. I yanked the relay off and hard wired the fans off and cooled it off. Hopefully it wasn't too hot for too long and I didn't damage anything. Last edited by JayDubBlazer; 05-31-2009 at 10:37 PM. Reason: typos |

Here a couple of pics of the seats installed. I basically used 3/16 plate to relocate the studs were needed and used the stock holes for the outside front locations bolts. I looked but didn't have any pictures of installing them.
There are two things I noticed since I've installed them. First the seats sit a little high, it might just be me but it feels like I'm up in the air a bit. Second the seat can not slide the entire length of travel front to back due to the raised back area. Hope that helps |

OK is two years too long to revive a build thread? I finally got back in the garage this weekend. It was cool to go over the last page of the thread, reminded me what I was working on before I went into hibernation. Got the wires back together and hopefully I got the cooling problem fixed. I need to change the oil and pull the distro to prime the oil pump. I order a new instrument printed circuit board because I think that might have been one of the locations I had a slow amp draw. Trying to go back and track down wires has been anything but painless(I used a painless harness and still having some trouble). Well hope to post some new pictures soon. Got some new wheels and can't wait to get it on the road. I would really like to take it to truck nationals down in Carlise.

OK after almost two years of trail and tribulation I have managed to get the thing running and was able to pull it out of the garage with its own power. Still alot of things to do. Speedometer, parking brake, the brakes are not working well, and still have to find a .12 mA trickle somewhere. I pulled everything I can think of trying to find it. Now I am drinking a beer and pulling my hair out. I've got it narrowed down to the wire that supplies the fuse box, but having trouble eliminating it. A couple of pictures, the last one is the empty spot in the garage where it use to set.

Found the electrical leak and now in the process of rerunning the wire in the engine compartment and in the dash. I have got the new steering hose since the old one blew up in my driveway.
Does anyone know where I can buy a new gear ratio connector for the speedometer? This is the 90 angle that is used to hook the speedometer to the transfer case. Will I need a different one because I am running a 700R4 now? |
