Hairy Situation

I hear a driver call the bus boss and ask her to bring a pair of scissors . Got busy and forgot about it . Then the Bus Boss calls me and said bring enough tools to remove a seat bottom . Turns out a 4th grade girl had crawled under a seat and got her hair caught in the front seat hooks . Seat bottom is held in place with two flat strap hooks in front and a single bolt at the back .

She had managed to get her hair around the hook and past the seat frame . She was on the floor holding herself up crying when I got there . So in my best grandpa voice I tried to calm her while I unbolted the seat . Had to stop her as the seat came loose because she was still hooked pretty good .

Bus Boss said she was just going to cut hair to get her out but she was not having any of that . Bolted the seat back up and when I stood up 4 or 5 kids said Thank You Mr. Dave . There were some pretty serious faces when I stepped on . All smiles when I left . think I was about 4 minutes start to finish . Driver heard her crying , Pulled over to see why . She was kinda freaked out by this .

Talked to a 22 year veteran of the bis and said this was the 1st time he had heard of this ..

And the reason she gave for being under the seat was her coat was under there and she was trying to get it .

Grandpa to the rescue.... gotta love the happy ending! I bet next time her coat is under a seat, she reaches for it instead of crawling towards it.

Unless she was retrieving something that fell, I personally don't think she gets much option in how she gets freed from the trap she got herself into.

That was my thought on the way there but when I saw her pinned down like that I kicked in to full Grandpa Mode .
