Re: campershell
You guys actually like that rusty thing?
I suppose it falls under the term, "patina" - which I think most guys use for decades of neglect and/or abuse. I'd scrub the thing with CLR in the unlikely event I ever had it. I like the old style of it but I'd never want one as roached as it is. "Strokes/Folks" I suppose. EDIT: I suppose you guys will LOVE this one! It's on Craigslist in Los Angeles right now for $1900! Holy Guacamole!!!

Re: campershell
obviously ogre thought the price was too much, like everything beauty and need is in the eye of beholder
though ogre did buy a new fiberglass cap for his 09 gmc longbed (in 09) for twice that

Re: campershell
I had a all steel "capitol" brand camper for years on my 54 AD. Great for hauling and securely storing stuff. Paid under $50. It was heavy as hell and miserable to camp in when cold or hot. You could burn.freeze your butt accidentally rolling over and coming in contact with the un insulated metal walls. Hard rain was also interesting. Was not unhappy when i sold it.

Re: campershell
A sheet metal shop in Poulsbo Wa made my step father one that was galvanized in the late 50's early 60's it didn't have side windows and i don't think it had a front window. He had it to keep his construction tools dry. It was a miserable thing riding in the back when the little kids filled up the front.
