Re: 67 long box

Metaldoc........just wanted to say that you do great work from many aspects when it comes to restoration, detail work and an overall theme for a build. If you don't already have one, you need to start making videos to show people how to conceptualize the aspects of restoration when that individual wants to learn how to do it themselves. Keep up the great work and I have learned so much just from reading your thread.

Wow and Thanks, I'm not sure where my ideas come from but I do see, in my mind, the finished concept of the any build I've done. I've not done videos of any of my work but lots of pics. The first part of any build is budget and I'm on one because I don't have any money, just the ability to do the work. I'm just an average guy with a good 2 bay garage, good selection of tools, a small 30gl compressor, the internet is the best source of info and a lot of time due to cluster headaches. Never a day goes past I don't go out and do at least one little thing on the truck. Keeping at is the key, every problem can be overcome.
Thanks Derek/ metal doc

Re: 67 long box

Thanks, I noticed after scrubbing the oil pan, the pump screen was touching the pan. This may have been when it was dropped but not sure. I know the pickup tube was not very tight. That was a complete new pump and the new high pressure pump didn't come with the pickup screen. I had to change it over from the other pump. If you buy crap you get crap so my fault. It's set now perfect height by measuring.

Re: 67 long box

Can someone explain how a cam shaft can cause cancer and or reproductive harm. Now I can see a heart attack from the speed you go after from HP increase and I can see it giving you a hard on that lasts more than 4 hrs when you hear it run. But not the other two warnings.

Anything containing ".ca.gov" is bound to be a little over the top. Lived there for 46 years and glad to be gone!

My guess is that you have to warn the morons that think the lube on the new cam should be licked off before installation.

Re: 67 long box

Got the firewall all fixed and paint blended back in. I have a little buffing to do but not too bad. I ran out of masking paper.

Re: 67 long box

Now that the engine is dry I can start back on it and let the firewall cure.

Re: 67 long box

While painting the firewall I noticed some wires got a little hot on the exhaust. Glad I caught it and got it fixed up like new.

Re: 67 long box

Blend in area buffed to match, looks good, and got the wiring cleaned up along the frame so they don't melt.

Been down for a bit with these stupid headaches but I did get the engine primed and no leaks. Time to put it back in.

Brought home a new project for my father in law, 39 chev cab, Chrysler straight 8, 2 speed power glide, 50 buick rear end, 36 Chrysler hood and sheet metal, and a custom made bed. It's a project for sure.

Thanks It's a tough road but I'm always positive. Just this week I've had over 30 Cluster headaches with each lasting about 1 1/2 hrs. Some real crappy days. Now the engines in, with help this time, I can get all the little stuff hooking it up done. I can't wait to drive it again, it is my cure for bad days.
Thanks Derek.

Re: 67 long box

That duel snorkel does look great! Got my motor going in Wednesday. Missed most of the driving season too. So looking forward to putting on some miles.

Re: 67 long box

Covered the AC lines with black split loom and painted the brackets black. Looks much better.

Re: 67 long box

I boogered up one of the exhaust doughnuts so I had to get some new ones. I like how the old systems are so simplistic. Last pieces of the engine build and going to fire tonight.
