Re: Mike's 50

here is the firewall bent and ready for trimming and install. also the radiator support modified to move the radiator forward for extra clearance.

one day I will figure out why it rotates pictures sideways after uploading.

Re: Mike's 50

Nice build.

I think the picture issue is not holding the Phone sideways. I had the same problem. I am using Dropbox to host the pics.

Re: Mike's 50

Between the shop being busy, Personal car repairs and getting cars ready to sell haven't had much time with my truck.
We will need to notch the firewall for clearance of the intake.

Today worked on getting the wheel tubs in the bed.
If I can only get the hang of welding this be better. Learning as I go.
couple of pictures of the tubs. they are 3" wide

GREAT BUILD! I'm pretty jealous of that Art Morrison frame.

Re: Mike's 50

Got some time this weekend with the welder and I think it went well. I havent had much luck with the welder in the year I have been using them.
I got the bed tubs welded in( no pictures).
I fixed the areas where the fuel tank mounts were. the first is the piece cut out and replaced, then the under side of the patch and then the top ground down.
Also made the first cut for the shifter in the new tunnel.

Re: Mike's 50

Well not alot to report, been down with a nerve issue in my head for the last few weeks, the few weeks before that had family in town and other stuff going on. I had purchased *****in radiator support and also inner fender kits and started to install but no progress. also have purchased a Glide Engineering seat but haven't even opened the boxes as of yet. Hoping to get back to work next week, luckily have a pretty good crew at the shop to keep it up and running while I have been out. Hopefully next weekend I will get out to the GoodGuys Show in Pleasanton and maybe get a little bit of time on the truck also before family shows up again for another weekend.
I will post some pictures when I have some to post.

Re: Mike's 50

Well starting to get back to the truck, very little done since end of February, little here and there in the last few weeks.
Changed from the Volvo Buckets to Glide Engineering Split back Bench and will use the foam kit from them also. Going to reinstall seat riser, will have to have a new piece for the front part, PO cut it out.
Got the front drive set up.
Mounted the hood and working on the front sheet metal. Think it is coming out pretty good, using absolute sheet metal inner fenders and radiator support kits.
Still have to install hood springs and more fitting on inner fenders.
Seems to be lining up pretty good for the most part.
Working on a few more pictures.

Re: Mike's 50

Mike, this is one COOL project! I'm only subscribed to three builds on this huge forum and this is one of them.
Glad to see your back at it. Your using the best of the best, and I think this will be a top notch truck when finished.
Keep up the excellent work, and, thanks for bringing us along.

Re: Mike's 50

50 Chevy LS3 thanks.
918733, they are fairly easy to install, i'm sure easier with stock frame and the absolute radiator support like they are designed for. just go slow and trim alittle at a time.
