Clutch rod boot

Crazy question. Which direction does the boot go on the clutch rod thru the fire wall. Towards the engine compartment or towards the interior? Mine is missing and trying to replace it.

Re: Clutch rod boot

Here's a picture of my '72 K5 clutch rod boot. Aside from some black paint on the firewall it's an untouched truck.

Yes, this is an exterior shot from the engine bay.

Re: Clutch rod boot

BTW - all the repop boots that I have used didn't last more than a few months before cracking and splitting. Crappy synthetic rubber combined with high heat near the exhaust manifold. In order to seal this hole I fabbed up my own boot from a piece of Kevlar heat shield tubing originally intended to protect spark plug boots. Still going strong after several years and millions of clutch pedal pushes!

Re: Clutch rod boot

Thanks for the tip. I bought a NOS one off this forum. I paid up for it but was hoping it was better quality.
