I found a nice completed show quality frame off 68 GMC.Of course I want it like every other 67-87 I see.I know this is a matter of taste.But what is your opinion on values on a exact same show quality GMC verses Chevrolet?

When new the GMC where sold along side Cadillac & Buick’s ! They also had stainless and chrome grills when Chevrolet had aluminum trim. GMC also built far less.

GMC had lock washers on all the bolts....... Chevrolet only some of them. Thats what my Dad used to tell me.

Right now with just a frame you have neither a GMC or Chevy. If I remember correctly neither 67 or 68 GMC frames were stamped with partial vins. The frame I used on my truck was from a 67 Chevy swb and was not stamped as well. Until there is a cab with title then you have an identify.

If same quality ,who cares , both are great trucks . I would take either one , I currently have both . Back in the day GMC were more Upscale than Chevy .

I believe he was saying it was a frame-off restoration. I wouldn't expect it to sell for a dime less than a comparable Chevy; maybe more to a collector.

I think that for people that know these trucks, being Chevrolet or GMC doesn't matter. For the average person I know that some would pay a little more for a Chevrolet. But on a really nice restoration I doubt there would be much if any difference in what it's worth. A lot of people have restored and sold cars that are a lot less attractive/popular and still got a good price for them.

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday the gmc is worth more, and on the second Tuesday of every other month they are worth the same

If I own a Chevy, they are worth less. If I own a GMC, they are worth less. I always seem to be a the losing end of whatever the trend is!

Chevy and GMC are both worth more than you think if you're trying to buy one, and worth less than you think if you are trying to sell one. If you're talking with friends and they ask you how much your truck is worth, you can make up any number and the number is both impressive and accurate.

I'm trying to cheat the market so I put a GMC steering wheel in my Chevy.

The ride and interior are much better just looking at that GMC horn button. Ahh the pleasures that buying upscale can provide.

I second this. I like Chevy's a lot. I LOVE GMC's. All things equal I'd take the GMC and pay a premium to get it.

When NADA starts buying trucks/cars for what they say their worth then their book will be relevant until then either truck is only worth what someone will hand you in cash on any given day . How many times do you see someone spend tons of cash on a build only to find out what they thought it was worth just didn't happen when it came time to sell ...

Believe NADA pricing has more to do with recorded sales prices and listed for sale prices.
All else being equal = identically equipped and condition. I would be logical in saying the GMC "should" be worth more, Couple reasons being;
1) GMC has always been the higher end of the two brands during the 67-72 timeframe.
2) GMC would have lower sales volumes, and lower production should and generally results in higher prices.
3) More reasons as mentioned previously, build quality/components, etc...
All IMO of course.

I'm very happy with my C10, and would've taken a GMC in same condition just as readily. Het, it could always be worse, what if we liked one of those other brands?

This is a silly question. Either you want a Chevy or you want a GMC... or you don't care. There is no set value on any of these trucks. Haven't you noticed? Sellers ask what they want and they get it. That right there is the nitty gritty pure science of it all.
