TF Taillight Fuel Door???

I have done an extensive search on this site but I can't find it. Does anybody have the tread or pics of the TF trucks with the taillight fuel filler/door mod? I thought I saw them here a couple months ago but I can't find them now. Thanks

Re: TF Taillight Fuel Door???

It was within another thread, I participated, but I cannot find it. I have looked at it but there is not enough room behind the light bucket for the filler. It works in later models (you probably found those threads) because the space between the inner and outer panels is wider and there is more distance beween the stake pocket and light bezel. To work in a TF you would need to do a lot surgery to the stake pocket into the bed, then make up a cover. I am now looking at putting mine below the spear, behind the rear wheel well. I do not want to have to lift the future bed cover and/or drop the tailgate to fill my tank. I looked at mounting it flush with the top of the bed rail, next to the stake pocket, but again would have to lift the bed cover to get to it. Also was worried about the pump jockeys in Oregon scratching up the paint, you can't pump your own gas there. If I could find an old fleetside corner I would play with it but do not want to start cutting up my bed to find out it won't work.

Re: TF Taillight Fuel Door???

Thanks Orrie. I think that I am going to go with a 50's Pontiac tails in the fenders w/ a fuel filler neck behind it. I think this will give it the cleanest look w/o having to put the filler in the bed.
