Re: Easy factory bench to "factory buckets" !

Great idea, I thought of buying original buckets and buddy buckets just to copy the frame work. The idea of cutting bench seats never crossed my mind. Can't wait to see what you end up with. Great idea!!

Here are a couple pictures showing the outside seat track lined up with factory mounts and how th inside seat track sits level and easy to mount thru the floor panel .

Re: Easy factory bench to "factory buckets" !

Awesome work! I do have a couple of questions:

1 are you cutting them in such a way that factory bucket upholstery would fit?
2 how much did you remove to achieve the proper width?

Keep up the good work!

Re: Easy factory bench to "factory buckets" !

I have been out of town for a family emergency ,And will post more pictures when I return home .

the easiest way to get a good measurement is to remove all the seat material and padding and bolt the seat frame back into the truck

use a straight edge to get a line directly down thru the middle of the steering wheel and mark the seat frame

once you have that measurement you can measure in on the other side and that should give you the correct amount to remove from the center and still have the seat centered in the middle of the steering wheel

reweld the now cut frame and take them to your local upholstery shop for new custom upholstery , no need for expensive replacement foam or covers !

I like the contour & bolsters of these seats but that huge edge stitching (aka: rawhide edge lacing) on the sides reminds me of a baseball glove stitch or a baseball stitch or a football lace. I'm not really too crazy about the way that rawhide edge lacing looks. Just my 2¢ worth. It also looks like it might be rough on the back of the legs getting in & out of the vehicle if wearing shorts or if your woman/wife/girlfriend/mistress or lady friend was wearing a dress or short skirt...lol

What is the part number of that dual regulator and what does it fit? I see part of a web site link but nothing beyond the http. Where did you find it, please.

Great thread!

infiniteinnovations.com also premierproducts.com are parts suppliers for limousine builders and carries the correct regulator to convert your small rear window to power up and down ,this will require confident fabrication skills and more than a gasless mig welder and the cost to have a body shop install this custom idea would be very high as you will have to fabricate everything using a few supplier parts .

1. wiring and switch
2. regulator
3. glass
4. water drain system inside the truck
5. regulator mounting brackets
6. window glass run and gaskets
7. very detailed measuring and removal of existing glass supporting metal
8. very confident body working skills
9. the ability to weld without distorting the cab sheet metal
10. The cash and time for such a custom project

I have never seen or heard of this being done and plan to be the first but giving away information is what this board is about , if someone else is planning on this mod let me know and we can exchange notes and sources .

I will be posting more pictures on the bucket seats later today !

Re: Easy factory bench to "factory buckets" !
