Panhard (Track) Bar Bushing Removal

How tough is it to remove these bushings? I have done a search and people talk about burning out the rubber, but you still have to contend with removing the outer metal sleeve. Is it just a hack fest? Or is there some easy technique to coax them out?

Also it looks like Brother's has GM original replacements.

Thanks, Cris

I actually did this with a C-Clamp and a Socket, think about that for a minute or two and you should be able to figure it out I don't have a picture.

Rocknrod:

Thanks. That at least bodes well that they may press out OK. I'm just concerned that the outer metal sleeve after 50 years will be a little reluctant to slide out!

Regards, Cris

What are you replacing them with? Have a link or pic?

I'm not a fan of poly for stock type use, would prefer rubber bushings.

Capable with a torch, but will try to press them out first. If that doesn't work I'll get down and dirty with it.

I took a hole saw and ran it through the rubber. Left mostly the sleeve. Then just took a sawsall and put a slit in it and drove it out with a hammer and chisel. Did not take long at all. Did the trailing arms the same way. I have a shop press so went back in with that.
