Do you remember where you found the pic of the green 60? It's my old truck and was in California last time I saw it. It was pretty rough when I got it. There are some good pics of the stepside spare tire mount. It only seems to look right with stock or plain wheels and hubcaps.

No sure don't. Was some time back and sometimes I find pics while doing searches and I copy and paste them for the forum.

Re: Post pics of trucks w/fender mount spare tire carriers

My 69 C10 is missing the outward portion of the factory mount but has the fender mounted braces still in place.

I haven't been able to locate a stock one so I am going to make my own.

Does anyone know if the support rods are solid round rod or are they tubing? They look to be about 1/2" diameter, is that correct?

They are solid. I can get a diameter on the rods tonight.

Here is my setup, featuring fenders purchased I believe from an earlier poster in this thread. I also purchased the wheel and the mount from the Classifieds here. I just haven't bothered to paint anything (nor will I).

Re: Post pics of trucks w/fender mount spare tire carriers

Has anyone seen a 73-87 with the side mounted spare? I have a '78 with the 8' stepside that has the side mounted spare. My issue is someone long ago threw the bracket out. Would love to see a pic if anyone knows of any. Trying to locate the correct bracket. I'll post my pic once I find it

Re: Post pics of trucks w/fender mount spare tire carriers

My 64 long step had a factory spare carrier between the cab and fender. I was beginning to wonder if mine was factory because all I saw was the spare tire in the fender cut out, even on the long step, however I have been seeing a few lately in the same location as mine. Mine was pretty mangled so I had a local shop make an exact replica, only offset from the fender a little more to accommodate the extra backspacing of the wheels I'm going to run. Hopefully I measured right.

Glad this was posted. Now I know what to look for or build. I was given this spare tire carrier but its obviously not for the 61. Wondering if its for interior bed mount. Anyone know what year it fits?

That's not a factory mount for a step or fleet side. No clue as to what it came on.

Re: Post pics of trucks w/fender mount spare tire carriers

OK, I am glad this thread was revived. I have a LWB and no cutout for the spare tire. I have the carrier. I know it is going to be a tight fit. My tire height is 28" (I believe). Does anyone have the location of where the carrier fits without a fender cutout?

My bed is not attached to the truck yet, so I won't hang it until it is, but would like an idea of where.
Here is my carrier.
