Replacement Speaker

I bought a so-called replacement for the in-dash speaker for my '62. Not quite a bolt in....I could get it to fit, as the original has a square magnet that rides on a bracket that wedges up against front of dash rear.
Anyone run across this? I'm trying to find a solution short of drilling hole in my dash!

BTW, I ordered the stereo "replacement" speaker locally, but it looks almost identical to the one in LMC.

Re: Replacement Speaker

You can do what I did, cut out the old factory speaker and mount a pair of 4" round speakers to the old bracket, works great and sounds better.

Re: Replacement Speaker

How did they mount? Did they fit flush up against top of dash?

Re: Replacement Speaker

That looks really good. Unfortunately, my speaker setup is different. It all looks factory, has the rubber bumper on the mount and all, yet it's a 4x10, with a SQUARE magnet, the magnet fits through a square hole in the bracket. Weird deal. I think I'm going to manufacture something like yours. Thanks a lot for the pictures!

Re: Replacement Speaker

I believe that is typical of a '60-'63 speaker.
