68 C10 6" rear drop issues
I finished up the rear drop on my 68 LWB truck this weekend. I am not sure if I got the incorrect springs, or what. The rear end is sitting on the frame. From what I have gathered with a 6" drop the c-notch is not mandatory. However In my case it must be.
  Older shot with the 7" 6 lug truck ralleys. My suspension is as follows CPP 4" springs - RCS603-4 Way2lo2's 2" lowering Blocks CPP Deluxe Panhard Bar CPP Shock Relocation Kit Monroe Shocks. 15x10 with a 275/60/15 The truck is sitting perfect now, but I am afraid that even with a C-Notch the spring isn't going to be tall enough... The odd thing is that the front end has the following parts and seems like it is actually a little higher.... CPP 2.5" Drop Spindles CPP 3" Springs

4 inches and the C-Notch is probably not mandatory. Anything over that it's "strongly" recommended.

Well I guess that's the plan then, C notch this coming weekend! I just don't want to do the notch and then have the rear end sit any further down...

It won't effect the drop on the rear. I just did the passenger side of my daughter's frame last week.

It will affect the rear drop if the rear end is currently sitting on the frame at rest... Without the springs holding up the full weight of the truck the rear end will move up until they do...

If you're running a 6" spring and 2" block that's why you're rear end is bottomed out on the frame. Remove the block and it will raise it up so you've got travel...or notch it so you have travel.

It has a 4" spring according to what I ordered and what was printed on the spring and a 2" block.

the ccp 4" springs are actually kind of soft. theyre chevelle springs actually. i bet if you lose the blocks the springs will have reach to carry the weight of the truck before resting on the axle

I was wondering about that... Very good point, I googl'ed the part number and noticed that they were used on A Bodies as well...
I am wondering if the HD springs would be any better?

oh yeah im sure it would but it might make the ride stiffer as well. i have the cpp 4" rears myself and I do NOT like em. i just bought a set of earlyclassics 4" drop to replace them.
