Someone sideswiped my 50 and I needed to find a replacement cab. Ended up with a 47 that I found over in the texas panhandle with no rust in the corners . It came off a 4400 I think. A guy in Tucumcari had a pretty cool chopped cab that I am kind sorry I did not buy, but............

Anyway, all the cabs are interchangeable with only some slight differences. Door handles, wing vents, and the wind lace is different on the 47-49.

I would focus on a good rust free (or as close as you can get to it) rather focusing on a specific year. Can save a lot of work and money in the long run if you find one with minimal work needed. I think the bigger trucks, like ton and a half or one step larger resisted rust much better. Not sure if it was because they were used on farms and did not see much road salt, or the height of them kept more mud from gathering n the spots that hold moisture or what.

Mine had a very little bit of rust in the toe board and floor. It was a cheap easy fix. It came with a front end which was different that the 3100, 3600. I bought the whole cab with doors, straight complete front end and nice emblems. Paid 900 and sold the front clip for 450 so the whole thing was pretty cheap

Re: 53 Truck Cab

I agree...midwest is where I'd start....alot of time and $$$ can be saved by getting the best cab you can find...
Theres a guy on craigslist that has a big old car salvage yard in kansas... might be a good place to start

Is insurance involved? Show the quote for a new chinese cab to them and then get an orignal.
