Wheel choice

I saw this pic and decided on the one piece Cragar SS(17x8) wheels over the two piece Torque Thrust II wheels. Chrome is easier to clean than aluminum. I just like the retro look of the 5 spoke wheel.

Re: Wheel choice

What size? I was told I should be able to go 17x8 front and rear without worries. Just curious. Daniel U

Re: Wheel choice

They both look equally good, my only concern is that the Cragars I bought for my stepsons car seemed to start collecting rust the first winter. I plan on buying Torque Thrusts and hoping they will be better. Anyone with experience with those rusting?

Re: Wheel choice

The aluminum can't rust. Sould be fine there, just have to polish it to keep the appearance up.

The truck in the picture Daniel posted is one of those new "Southern" trucks isn't it??? Amazing that this is a truck that will soon be rolling off the assembly line. IMO they look great but it would not be the same as driving a classic.

I couldn't agree more! I love the idea of new cars with classic lines, but nothing is better than a real Chevy. Not a fan of the F*%& power train either.

Re: Wheel choice

I have heard that the initial production run is only about 100 and the sticker price will be around $50K. I think, if anything, this will help to raise the value of the "real" classics. Theoretically, if you can buy a "knock-off" for $50K a real, fully restored classic should be worth more right???

Makes sense, my '54 will have everything the southern truck will offer with a SBC 350/700R4/10bolt and a custom stereo that's Ipod ready. No warranty or cup holders though.
