Wiring diagram drawing tool?

Does anyone have a recommended method for drawing out custom diagrams? It could be a downloadable program or a web based app. I'm just looking for some method of throwing down the elements I'll use, connecting wires between everything, labeling stuff, and then saving the whole thing as a jpeg or whatever.

I'd be willing to pay a few dollars, but not a huge amount.

Visio used to be the go-to for quick diagrams drawing. Now a Microsoft product but earlier versions appear to be freeware: https://winworldpc.com/product/visio/2000

Some of the earlier versions will expect early Windows versions like 3.1 and such. I think the last one worked with XP or XP compatibility mode.

Try the internet. It's been around for many years but is apparently very confusing to use.
