Re: looking at a 78 jimmy

Ha i wish i could workoutside all year, must be nice in the south for that.We painted my 92 sunbird car a few years back in Jan -40C,ice building up on the garage concret block wall.Had to have sheets of plywood across the back of the big door on the floor,to keep the heat in ,two salamader heaters just keeping it warm enough.

Re: looking at a 78 jimmy

Well these rear sides are still like new and quite thick, thicker than some fenders and other panels i've seen, would that be sort of a date code?

Workin out some lighting details lol it was suggested put all six on the roof middle two backwards, four forward.Duno but i do have 78 roof marker lights to use from my sub anybody open the steel roof over the driver,i was thinking to cut/drill use grommets/plugs from under to seal it...........

Re: Jim Bob a build thread

got it out ,no housing bolt was over finger tight.
All the rest were not torqued either wonder if the flywheel wearing out wasn't helped
by not tightening it properly
decided to run a tac and electric choke wire threw the harness
i'll pick wires from my 87 harness

Re: Jim Bob a build thread

in my burb it has rear lights, the peanut bulbs.(my local parts guy doubt i can say his name)I ordered a bunch for colour a few years bak, besides that i've stripped out quite a few clear, since i've seen the newer style soldered in bulb, but the old style fits
i used a visual look(check filament and wire goes under base straight),then meter, then meter with socket(run sand paper in socket a bit push each contact towards center after, for better bulb tension) ,then meter socket in board.watch with the common ground as the ohms will run back when testing
used a little fine sand paper to clean up the contact spots

and the first way i did the colour was with the little boots only one left in the bottom of pic.....autometer i think

my 87 and 89 were the same colour but 87 just power locks and the 89 had both power,so the 87 panel was used with the 89 inserts, had to drill some holes to match up
gona try the 89 burb dash,on the weekend
