Summertime

EDIT: I had the thought to post this after my experience below. Go ahead and use this thread for any summer related stuff you care to add. Things that seem to only happen in summertime.

Ain't it great? Yeah, it gets too hot but we get over it. Last evening I go to cut the grass. A hot day but I was bound to get it done before the weekend. My mower can was out of gas. I always fill before mowing, but there's still plenty in there. I figured I'd see how far I'd get. The sky was dark just to the north, but not the south. Looked like the storm would miss here. It's been raining some everyday this week. So I get one side of the drive done out front and it runs out doing the other side. I'm determined, so I was running out for gas. 5-6 miles to the south is town, but to the north is a crossroad a bit closer and easier, so I tossed the can in the '72 bed and headed out. Let me back track. I had driven that to work that day and got caught in a shower coming home. So soon as I got home I rinsed it off being I had just washed it up the other day. Ok, now on my way to get gas I roll into some rain drops. Hang a right to the crossroad on the state road and it's all out raining. I drop down to the crossroad and out of the rain. Get my gas, see a neighbor, BS a while, and head back. Back up on the ridge it's raining again. Get back to my place and it's still dry, hose the truck off again, put gas in and finish mowing. Only in the summertime

Re: Summertime

That's what I did that morning. I filled the '72 up going through town on my way to work and forgot the little can. Now yesterday I drove the '95. It needed gas, but I had to stop at the hardware store first. The gas station is within sight of the hardware store and I considered going there first, then doubling back. Nah, I won't forget. Well, I got a text coming out of the store, put my thoughts into that and must have used them all up cuz I was out on the hiway when I remembered. "Oh well, there's that other place in Clarksville just slightly off my route...and they're gas is pretty cheap".

Re: Summertime

Kinda like my yesterday. I can mow about 3 times on a full tank in my mower, and those 3 had been done, so I had to get more.

Now, my dog knows when it is Saturday, and that's the day I take him for a run. As soon as breakfast is over he starts getting excited and jumping up and down and acting the fool, but yesterday I had a doctor appt at 9 and didn't figure I had time to take Milo and get back home then make back to the clinic. I didn't want to leave him in the truck while I was getting checked, so I ended up driving my car to the clinic. I didn't want to have my gas can in my car, so all the way back home, switch to the truck, gather up the dog and take him for his run then hit the station to fill the can then back home. All in all about 20 miles worth.

Re: Summertime

Roundy roundy. I try to not haul gas in my Suburban, too. That's how I ended up out of mower gas. I often have to do the double back thing. Always seems to take twice the time you would think.

Yeah, what does this have to do with the topic? If you want to post in my thread, keep it somewhat on topic. You could always start your own spam thread for those interested in such things.

Hey Met, love your spam but I was actually kidding. We don't even like spammers here, in reality. Better go back real quick and wipe out all your spam out before people here start thinking you're a worthless little worm who doesn't even have computer geek friends.

Re: Summertime

Boy Greg, you are right! That's exactly the kind of truck I like to buy. A nicely ordered camper hauler still in original form. Great colors. I've been stuck on '72s but prefer '71s. Too bad my truck fund is a jar full of coins

Speaking of that odd weather last summer allowing me to mow my grass that evening. I was putting my Christmas lights up the other day off a ladder instead of getting on the roof. A month or so back I had taken an opportunity to prep and paint the trim on the rear facing gable on my house as a head start to next spring's project... because weather was so good. Now the other day it was so nice, after being pretty cold a while, I combined the winter task of putting Christmas lights up with painting my gable trim facing the driveway. I only prepped the far side because I wanted to keep moving with the lights. Who knows, might still get a chance to paint that before spring!

Re: Summertime

Only in the sweet sweet warm summertime.

Caught this pic from the garage door one afternoon this past summer.

What are the chances of a rainbow beginning from your house????
I only say beginning cause there was no pot of gold anywhere when I looked around.
But those damn trouble causing goblins coulda ran off with it before I even looked around for it... that really sux cause i sure could have used it more than they need it.

One day I'll catch those lil' rat bastards red handed at their evil pesky tasks an give them a piece of my mind!

Re: Summertime

If you are at the beginning of a rainbow the pot of gold is at the other end...at the "end of the rainbow". That's how the story keeps going. No one will disprove the pot of gold because whatever end you are at is the begining.
