Accelerator cable 72 GMC 350 issue

Hi, I'm realtvely new on this site, but have a question, does anybody know a good afternmarket source or a way to modify my stock acelerator cable after installing a edelbrock 1406 carb and performer manifold on my 72 GMC 350?
Seems my cable is longer than needed, may have been that way before even with the Q-jet, but I dont think so....

Re: Accelerator cable 72 GMC 350 issue

Welcome to the board!

Seems like this is a common question from guys with your set up.

I don't have much experience with the cable dealio, but I have seen them and used them on stock arrangements.

IIRC if you take the whole throttle assembly out, you may be able to trim down the plastic sleave and shorten the cable. I've seen em where the cable is connected to the pedal rod through a small hole, and then the cable is crimped with a split shot lookin thing but metal.

Hopefully someone else will chime in, since I am just guessing here.

Good luck!

Re: Accelerator cable 72 GMC 350 issue

Thanks!
Yes, I was thinking the easiest way may be to recrimp the end at the foot pedal....but I may switch back to the factory manifold and qjet, It's not the right manifold, I picked up a performer RPM from a friend, running it with a 1406 carb, and I read that's not a good combo, seems I have a flat spot on the lower rpms.....
