Trying to find my old truck

So its been a while since i have posted anything on the board.... Ive been lurking in the shadows.... but recently my son has been pestering me about trying to find my old 72 GMC Scott-built Crew cab.

I dont currently have a picture available, but it was in a thread on here with a for sale sign on it.

The last time I saw it was back in 2005 when I delivered it to Huntington Beach Ca.

Any suggestions on where to start?

I dont have any info on the VIN or anything.

I will try to post a pic.....

This is exactly how I delivered it ( complete with a parts cab in the bed)

Re: Trying to find my old truck

I'm trying to do the same thing, except I just found an old picture that showed the license plate that was registered to me. I think I'll try getting the VIN from State records if possible.

How many were there in that color combo? I saw one that looked like that, but restored in Pigeon Forge TN for the fall grand rod run last month.

Re: Trying to find my old truck

I remember seeing your truck for sale but haven't seen it for sale around here or in the midwest. I've only seen 2 for sale in the last few years. They're getting real hard to find.

Re: Trying to find my old truck

Might sound a little "TV" but a private investigator might be able to access databases that tell where a VIN is currently registered. And if you go in person to register a current vehicle, I've had good luck getting information from the person at the counter if it's not busy. I would think your state would have all the vehicles you've registered in the database or files. Maybe somebody with DOL experience knows?

PI's work man! I got one to find my dad's old assistant machine gunner and in 24 hours he had the guy's phone number. Dad had been looking for that guy for decades!

That is good information. Very cool that you did that for your dad and that he got to make contact!

I don't mean to thread hijack, have you made any progress crews?

Nope. I dug up an old email contact that I thought was the guy who bought it, but that was a dead end.

The search continues.....
