67 Custom Camper in for service

Drove by Wentworth Chevy and saw this short wide in the service bay and today it's out in the back lot, so I had to get a picture. It's pretty solid looking with gauges. Plus it has three gas tank fills. Two on the driver's side and one on the passenger.

Re: 67 Custom Camper in for service

Sad times in stump town. The Wentworth Chevytown downtown is no more. They were in this location since the 1920's. I don't know where I will be able to look through old parts books for information now.

Re: 67 Custom Camper in for service

Man that kills me, I hate seeing the BIG 3 losing out in the car market to Kia, Toyota and all the other foreign makes.
The Truck market is GM and Fords last hope, and even there they are losing ground every day.
Pay attention to this, its kind of funny. The next time you see a car or truck with a, "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN" decal, well most that I see down here are on foreign cars, sad!

Apparently some are and some aren't, depends on what site you're reading. Some of 'em say just the crewcabs.

Sad topic, great comparison pics. We had a Ford dealer become a Chevy dealer which became a Subaru dealer, now it's a theater.

Re: 67 Custom Camper in for service

Hey there HO455, you sure get around. Its fun seeing all the PDX pictures and old trucks!

My '69 K20 was sold through Ed Randall Chev, which was at 107 SE Grande Ave, at least until '69...

Re: 67 Custom Camper in for service

That's interesting as that is the address of the above photos. Wentworth must have bought them out and moved in at some point after 1969. I can get some photos of the other side of the building with the service entrance and the indoor show room if you would like. It doesn't look like it has changed much from back in the day.

Re: 67 Custom Camper in for service

HO455, Thought you might get a kick out of this: this license plate frame has been on the back of my uncles 1965 Ford falcon for close to 50 years. It was on the car when the vehicle was willed to him by his neighbor back in the 70s. The stunner is Eugene Wentworth is my uncle’s actual name (!?) an absolutely bizarre coincidence! I never thought to look the dealership up on the net, your thread made me put two and two together. Certainly this frame must’ve come from that dealership ?

Re: 67 Custom Camper in for service

That IS COOL! I wonder if Wentworth started in Eugene and moved or expanded in to Portland or the other way around?

Re: 67 Custom Camper in for service

The Chevy dealership I worked for when I was a teenager is long gone. It seems like no one even remembers it was there. Almost all the dealerships around here are owned by two or three mega-dealers.

sad days indeed, the last GMC sierra rolled off the line up here in Oshawa, Ontario
December 18, 2019.
only bright spot is it was raffled off to former employees, with the proceeds going to charity.
the guy who won it (1 $30 Ticket) got a custom plate as an ode to GM Canada’s founder Robert Samuel McLaughlin.
