Are these BBC manifolds rare? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Just discovered that my take off exhaust manifolds may be a bit rare. I actually posted them for sale on this board this morning and then quickly deleted the post once I uncovered this little nugget of info.

What are your guys thoughts on this? I've got a pair as follows:

BBC cast manifolds w/o smog ports.
3916178 RH date code: I 14 7
3914613 LH date code: I 12 7

These are late 1967 castings of 68-70 casting numbers for 396/427 manifolds. On Jan 10th this year, a guy on ebay sold an almost identical set, with the only difference being his date codes were K 6 7 and K 8 7, for 600 bucks.

They look like the ones that I had on my car. Motor was a mid 80s 454. But if someone is looking for date codes they might be.

date code is a big price point .

those are emissions manifolds just not drilled/tapped . notice the bumps .

good non cracked gm manifolds are better than chine repop crap units .

nothing special. now if they were the early BB vett ones with the correct numbers, then yes. They are repoded now.

I paid 150 bucks for these.
Not sure if you can get 600 bucks but they say there is a @ss for every seat.

It's possible the ebay guy got lucky but they did sell for 599 bucks! Haven't decided what I'm going to do with mine yet... put 'em up on eBay or just let 'em go on here...

What are the date codes on yours?

Dates on mine are 65 and 68. With 65 being the first year for 396. These are not considered emission exhaust manifolds just because they have a area where later they tapped them out to be used for emissions. If they are drilled out and tapped they are not as desired. Just my 2 cents.

I just looked at the dates you listed for the manifolds on eBay. They are real close in casting dates so he might of got 600. These manifolds are really hard to find casting dates close together. They are worst than a set of 840, 208, and 858 rectangle port big block heads as far as having both casting dates within a day or so. Even the same day is fairly rare.
