convert old style staggered valve covers

Does anyone have any good ideas on using the old style corvette staggered hole valve covers on the regular heads?

seems like you could make that work... maybe tap the staggered holes into that, and then use counter sunk bolts on the other holes...

I have the same dilemma I have a pair of 56 Canadian sbc "Pontiac" valve covers, that I want to install on my trans am that has a sbc .

Re: convert old style staggered valve covers

Probably 30 years ago I made up my own adapter plates to adapt the staggered bolt Corvette valve covers to the '86 and earlier bolt pattern. I made them out of 1/8" steel but they should have been 3/16" or 1/4" as they tended to seep oil a little. It would be much easier to make a set now with the technology available.

Well, that's all I can think of too. A plate would work, just be nice to avoid the extra plate. but I can't see it yet. someday a guy might want the extra height any way. I traded a alt. and a starter for this whole set up probably 45 yrs. ago. I haven't tried to hook it up since we first tried it and almost burned the garage down. I got a little better idea where the gas line goes now.
