Borgeson Shaft install question

So i recently ordered and am ready to install a new borgeson steering shaft with U Joint type connections... all fit in the proper locations fine and i know i have to cut the shaft down to the proper length...

My question for those that have done this install before is did you have to cut off the nipple on the steering box that sticks out past the splines? I have attached a picture with said nipple in a red box...

Borgeson tech said cut it off... but he didnt seem too sure about that...

Thanks
