Re: OK,Let's see your steering setup.
Yea,I should have been more specific. I want to retain straight axle, already have installed 6 lug power disc setup, tapered bearings,1" tie rods,etc.. Now I need to install a Steering Box & Column. I have a manual box out of later ('77) model truck , but can't seem to make it fit without interfering with front tire.

Re: OK,Let's see your steering setup.
I have a 59 gmc that has the factory 336 in it which I am pulling and dropping in my 60 built 389. But I will probably have to go with the newer GM power steering box that sits on the outside of the frame, since there is no way that I can see that headers will fit between/around the starter and steering box. Any other ideas?
Thanks Robert |

Re: OK,Let's see your steering setup.
I wish I had seen your photo three years ago. At least I have an easy solution if the tire interference on mine gets to be a PITA. I ran my stock 59 box with the 4wd front axle using an 80 1 ton van tie rod end to mate it to the stock pitman rod. Same set up will work with the GMC box you have shown. What year range is it?? Thanks

Re: OK,Let's see your steering setup.
the stock "factory" ps. boxes are pretty rare these days. the toyota box they use is from a 4x4 79'-85' the solid axle type, the ind. type are cross steering and are wrong for your application. pm me with a phone number and i will be glad to help anyone that needs it.
