Looks like she has a little rust. Why did you pull the outter skins off? Is it easier to work the inner structure or do you have som other plans?

I will be replacing the quarters with SWB bed-sides... I did a lot of thinking (I know... look out!) and figured this would be the best way to get the new panels to line up best. There are a couple spots on the inner panels that need to be replaced as well. One other advantage is that I will be able to shave and metal finish the 'new' replacement quarter skins to near perfection before they go back on, as well as undercoat the inside of both panels, and it will be easier to do the new wheel tubs this way, and... and... and...

GET OUT OF MY HEAD! And leave those thoughts were you found them! I just got a very nice set of blazer sides for mine and I will be doing the exact same thing.
Looking good as always! You are so right about it being much easier to work those things off the rig. It almost makes it fun

Well I am glad you passed because they are in great shape. I took about 30sec with a da anf the shinny metal was all you saw. That windshield frame is also in great shape. The surface rust is just that on the surface and the inside is clean with zero rust other than surface.

Re: Porterbuilt Blazer Project

Some progress has been made... I will post up some more detailed pics once the "rust repair" is done. The truck bedside skins are mocked up and the pass. side floor/rocker/A and B pillar patches/rocker box etc. are just about finished up.

Jon, I know... Its some kinda sick obsession. Look at my join date-june of 2000. 7 years on this board and of that time I have had a blazer for less that a year of that time. And the was 6 years ago that I owned the blazer.

Re: Porterbuilt Blazer Project

You makig any headway on this one, Nathan? I'm wanting to see how far into the bed area everything has to go to get that corvette rear planted on the ground. I'm contemplating the C4 rear to minimize the amount that I need to raise the back seat. And if I go with C4 rear, I kind of "have" to have a C4 front right?

I know when I visited you told me that I probably didn't need the C4 dropmember for what I wanted to do, but I can't help it. I don't "need" a convertible Blazer either, I just want it.

Dude, that last pic. gave me flashbacks. Had to walk out to the shop to make sure it was dun.

What tool did you use to cut the rocker box flange, my angle grinder/cutoff wheel ain't getting very far?? J.

Nice work so far...
