Suburban Hatch Release Broke

Now what? All at once stopped working. Push the button and nothing, not a sound. What I need to know is how can I get it open? Do I have to figure the problem out and fix it first? Is that the only way? What if it was something at the hatch end? There must be a way to pop it manually from inside with a tool. Anyone know the trick? All my tools are in there for work. Thanks

Re: Suburban Hatch Release Broke

The hatch is upper part of the tailgate style. Thanks for the links. The second one is a later model hatchback, whole thing lifts.

I guess I'm more stressed than I thought. Had a dumb moment when I went to get tools out for work and got nothing from the button on the dash. I've had this thing going on four years. When I first got it I didn't know about the button on the dash and only knew to use the key in the tailgate handle. Then, I had a stroke of genius pass over me and BING!!!, I tried the key. Man, my mind gets on one track and forgets the rest. Went from only opening with key to only opening with button, and when the button failed I was lost. Talk about degenerative behavior!

*Did I mention yesterday morning I cleared tools out from the side door, first to get them out for work, but also clear the way to get access from inside to see about unlatching? Sheesh
