Finally got my tank installed. It's a 16 gallon from Tanks, Inc.
It feels good to check that off the list!

Cleaned out my local McFadden-Dale hardware store of their stainless carriage bolts for the perimeter and wheel tub mounting. Last coat of clear and will polish this coming weekend. Also 4 full coats of urethane on the bottom side of the bedwood.

Prepped my 'new' craigslist rear axle for installation. Degreased, painted, saddles removed, new seals, 5-lug axles installed, chrome diff cover. Gonna do the brake shoes and hardware after I get it on the truck...

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

Relocated the rear shocks on my 65 by rotating the trailing arm mount brackets from one side to the other. I know some other users had to drill new holes or trim the trailing arms, but on my 65 I just flipped them and bolted them up. The angle on the lower mount puts some flex on that bushing, but so far so good.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

The narrower rear of the 64-66 frame vs the 60-63 causes things to line up pretty nice. There was an existing hole in the frame that I enlarged to bolt up the upper shock mount. These mounts came in hardware packet "P19" with the Monroe 59041 shocks I'm using.

The difference in ride is pretty amazing. But I think these shocks were near full extension in their stock, leaned over mounting, which may have contributed to the poor ride. You can see for yourself how much this straightened them up. I'm using Western Chassis 6" drop springs in the rear. Moving the shocks took the ride from terrible to sporty.

Oh nice! I really need to do that to mine. It's pretty bouncy in the rear.
