15x10 Slot Mags on 1970 Longbed fleetside

Hey guys,

I’m thinking about buying this set of 15x10” slot mags rims for my 1970 Fleetside longbed but I’m a little worried about the width, will they fit? Any advice on tires? Any input is welcome! Truck is stock btw.

Will better look w/those slot's. The fronts will hang in the breeze more. If you had 8.5's it would be less pronounced. They will fit, yes no rubbing. BF Goodrich Radial T/A's will give you a more period classic look. Possibly Cooper Cobra's as well. 60 series will be a better fit, to fill those arched wheel wheels. Love those deep barrel style vs the standard offset.

You'll need a wide low profile tire on the front. It's the road hugger look of the '70s, if that's ok with you.

I don't know the exact size of wheels or tires on this truck, but this is something close to what you will have. The wide all around look was big in the Southeast until hoopdy hoops came on. It was real common to see conversion '90s Chevy shortbeds with 10s all around with fender flare kits running around. My friend bought an '85 SWB that came with 10s all around. He had them on his '68 when he first finished it. This is more like what you can expect. I think that truck of Larry Dunn's has 12s or some minimal back space

Awesome. Thank you guys that really give me a good idea of what it will look like. I think I’ll go ahead with them then poke around and see if anybody wants to trade for a pair of 8 wide for the front.

That's the thing to do. It's not easy finding the perfect set and someone else will need the other two. Maybe you'll find someone with a set of 8.5s who wants 10s in the rear to straight swap

If no trades happen, I will look at the 2 you may part with. I do know shipping these are pricey due to their weight, but will not scare me off. Good luck in the search locally.

Unfortunately when I meet the guy to buy the mags every one of them was severely curb rashed even though I specifically asked him about it before hand.... but hey that’s craigslist for ya. Back to the hunt.

This 67 I bought a couple years ago has 5 of them there 15"x8" slot mags. I didn't like them at first but they are starting to grow on me.

They look good! But go to Napa Auto and grab yourself some Aluminum Brightener, quick spray and scrub with water then spray on the brightener and let it foam up for a bit then hose them off. You will like them a whole lot better!

Of course you can fully buff them out if you want to keep going but that Aluminum Brightener does wonders.

Re: 15x10 Slot Mags on 1970 Longbed fleetside

Im a sucker for slots. No idea why haha. I have several sets (none for sale) of five and six luggers. Came close to buying some from a board member on this thread even. If I find a set come up for a reasonable price and I have truck money in my pocket I buy em. *crazy*

Im gonna try that cleaning method with the Napa stuff on one and see how it turns out.

15x10 P275/60R15.s out back and 15x7 P245/60R15's up front. Original ET uni-lug 5 window slot mags from the 1960's. The rear offset is pretty deep. Truck is lowered 2" in front and 4 " out back.

Yeah i was bummed about those slots being in such bad condition but I ended up going with these 6 lug Rally Wheels instead. Bought them from Randy500 in the for sale section of this site. I really like how they turned out. I also gave my truck a 2/4 drop for a little attitude.

Thank you! I’m really happy with how it turned out, now I just need to replace the 255/60 in the front with 275/60 to level it out a bit.
