71 k 20 body mounts issues

Can anyone measure there 71 or 72 k20 body mounts for me? I bought new mounts and now the front is too low and the master cly. is hitting my upper alt. braket. Just need to see if i have the right ones (suppose to be 71-72 4x4) before i start shimming the cab. thanks

Are you sure you don't have a half ton frame? Half ton had shorter rear cab bushings.

Can you post pictures of what you’ve got right now? I can measure my mounts in the morning.

The busing kit is different on half ton 4x4 and 3/4 ton 4x4. I have seen this mistake more than once.

That is true for 2wd. If I am not mistaken all 4x4's use the 3/4 ton bushing set which is the same as 2wd 3/4 ton. Only difference is the lower side of the core support mount. Which has no bearing on mount height. You could use 2wd core support mounts no problem.

That is your problem right there. Look at my truck in my build thread. Pics before I tore it down. Cab is low in back, was that way when I installed the LMC mounts. The new ones I put in are from Classic Heartbeat. Actually ended up a little high in the back. Did not have rear cab bushings seated in frame mount. Should be right on when I re-assemble.

Re: 71 k 20 body mounts issues

I’m certain longbed K10 and K20 use the Same identical frame model year for model year. With that said bushings shouldn’t make a difference on a long bed 4x4, whether It’s a K10 or a K20. I’ll know know more about the short K10 bushings tomorrow. I’d bet your issue is LMC as well.

Re: 71 k 20 body mounts issues

after adding 2 more shims to the front and 3 to the rear , the mounts are the same height as what i took out,so lesson learned, don`t buy mounts from lmc..

Re: 71 k 20 body mounts issues

The easy way to remember how cab mounts work between the two sizes is C/10s have unique rear cab mounts. They are shorter which means the mount sits higher on the frame. All 20 & 30 series trucks and all k-models take the other mounts. So it can be kept simple with just remembering C/10 is unique, everything else the same

I can't believe they can't even have simple pieces of rubber made to the right measurement. It's not a 1/16" either. Not even close. Are they even trying to get it right?
