Scoti, I'm not sure who you have lined up on this but they are a lot of "do it yourself" options out there. The only thing that needs to be manufactured is the caliper mounting bracket, and mod the spindle to mount it.

You can machine down a 70-87 (5x5) hub and use C-4 hats to mount the 13" PBR C-4 rotors. Of course the hats would have to be re-drilled to 5x5 pattern.

The brackets attach to the truck spindles, and you can mount C4 Calipers. The hats, rotors, and calipers can be bought brand new from parts suppliers, and the saving is very big.

Yes, I'm aware of options utilizing C4 stuff.

But I would prefer to have a hub that was intended for the purpose rather than one that wasn't (old rotor being cut down) & C4 13" rotors are kind of thin ( <1.25") so I prefer a thicker rotor for my heavier truck.

I have B body spindles on my 67 Chevelle with hubs cut down from Camaro rotors, 12" Corvette 1 1/4" rear rotors and Suburban calipers (3 5/8" piston). Cutting down the truck rotor should not be a problem.

The setup has been on the Chevelle for years and I have not had any problems with the custom made hubs. It works great! Dave

We all know it can be done. The prob would be not all rotors (& therefore hubs) are created equal.

The main concern is making sure it's done responsibly. How much structural evaluation of the hub is actually done after the machine work? Did you just machine it & install it with 'real world' or 'on the road' testing?

17" minimum is typical for 13" rotor/upgraded caliper brake systems.

DId you mean 63 and up ?? I have a coil sprung front end.

Defiantely would love the big brakes.....However, 13" brakes wont work with a stock 15" wheel......wonder if they make 17" wide-whites !!!

I new they weren’t cheap but they were almost as much as the caliper itself!

Some guys over on ls1tech were saying you can get the pads for around $130 Hell that is still a lot of mo ra doe for me. I will stick with the c5 calipers for sure and just run a 14" rotor. You have a good point though about the price of the zo6 c6 stuff.

Not sure if you have contacted either of these guys in your research. They have both designed C5 brake conversions for A/F Body Chevys. If they do not have a kit for our trucks, they may be willing to create one if there is enough interest.
