correct shock?

I am in the process of redoing my 69 C10 back half. I purchased and installed a ECE shock relocation kit and 4" lowering coil. When i went to install the KYB gas adjust shock (KG5416) the lower mounting bolt would not fit through the shock sleeve. The ece bolt that came with the kit on right and the bolt on left that came with the shock are the same diameter. If i cut out the sleeve in the shock the bolts should fit.....is that what i need to do and normal? Or do i have the wrong shock??

Re: correct shock?

Just got off the phone with Mark from ece......bolt sent was wrong with a 5/8" shank should of been a 1/2" shank bolt.Mark is great to work with and sent out the correct one Also called KYB and they have no idea why the shocks came with the silver bolts..they said their shocks are sent out with no hardware?
